lol. First, I didn't even know what A Wasilla was, until Governor Sarah Palin was thrust into the media scene and became and instant overnight political sensation, so had this not occurred I would not have paid attention.

Second, I was checking my stats and saw that someone in lil ole Wasilla, Alaska was doing a search related to African Americans. Here is an image of the search. In fact, the person is search for ugly African Americans. Perhaps, they want a definition or a photo gallery?

Anyway, it was an interesting observation, because I never would have paid much attention to this one, but the location of the user search caught my eye. Interesting...hhhmm

Round One
Senator McCain’s jabs on earmarks and pork-barrel spending

McCain: “Senator Obama suspended those requests for pork-barrel projects after he was running for president of the United States. He didn't happen to see that light during the first three years as a member of the United States Senate, $932 million in requests.”

Senator Obama attempts to defend himself on this issue, then Senator McCain jabs back.

McCain: “Senator Obama suspended those requests for pork-barrel projects after he was running for president of the United States. He didn't happen to see that light during the first three years as a member of the United States Senate, $932 million in requests.”

Senator Obama jabs on healthcare breaks and cutting taxes.

OBAMA:
My definition -- here's what I can tell the American people: 95 percent of you will get a tax cut. And if you make less than $250,000, less than a quarter-million dollars a year, then you will not see one dime's worth of tax increase.

Now, John mentioned the fact that business taxes on paper are high in this country, and he's absolutely right. Here's the problem: There are so many loopholes that have been written into the tax code, oftentimes with support of Senator McCain, that we actually see our businesses pay effectively one of the lowest tax rates in the world.

And what that means, then, is that there are people out there who are working every day, who are not getting a tax cut, and you want to give them more.
It's not like you want to close the loopholes. You just want to add an additional tax cut over the loopholes. And that's a problem.

Just one last point I want to make, since Senator McCain talked about providing a $5,000 health credit. Now, what he doesn't tell you is that he intends to, for the first time in history, tax health benefits.

So you may end up getting a $5,000 tax credit. Here's the only problem: Your employer now has to pay taxes on the health care that you're getting from your employer. And if you end up losing your health care from your employer, you've got to go out on the open market and try to buy it.

It is not a good deal for the American people. But it's an example of this notion that the market can always solve everything and that the less regulation we have, the better off we're going to be.

Best jab on the current financial crisis:

OBAMA: Well, thank you very much, Jim, and thanks to the commission and the University of Mississippi, "Ole Miss," for hosting us tonight. I can't think of a more important time for us to talk about the future of the country.

You know, we are at a defining moment in our history. Our nation is involved in two wars, and we are going through the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

And although we've heard a lot about Wall Street, those of you on Main Street I think have been struggling for a while, and you recognize that this could have an impact on all sectors of the economy.

And you're wondering, how's it going to affect me? How's it going to affect my job? How's it going to affect my house? How's it going to affect my retirement savings or my ability to send my children to college?
So we have to move swiftly, and we have to move wisely. And I've put forward a series of proposals that make sure that we protect taxpayers as we engage in this important rescue effort.

No. 1, we've got to make sure that we've got oversight over this whole process; $700 billion, potentially, is a lot of money.

No. 2, we've got to make sure that taxpayers, when they are putting their money at risk, have the possibility of getting that money back and gains, if the market -- and when the market returns.

No. 3, we've got to make sure that none of that money is going to pad CEO bank accounts or to promote golden parachutes.

And, No. 4, we've got to make sure that we're helping homeowners, because the root problem here has to do with the foreclosures that are taking place all across the country.

Btw...why are people comparing her to him? She's not running for President.

I don't know who the original author is, it's circulating on the Internet, but here goes....

"Let me see if I have this straight.....

* If you grow up in Hawaii , raised by your grandparents, you're
'exotic, different.'

* Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers, a quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you're a radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

* Name your kids Willow , Trig and Track, you're a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are unstable.

* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you're well grounded.

* If you spend 3 years as a brilliant community organizer, become the
first black President of the Harvard Law Review, create a voter
registration drive that registers 150,000 new voters, spend 12 years
as a Constitutional Law professor, spend 8 years as a State Senator
representing a district with over 750,000 people, become chairman of
the state Senate's Health and Human Services committee, spend 4 years
in the United States Senate representing a
state of 13 million people while sponsoring 131 bills and serving on
the Foreign Affairs, Environment and Public Works and Veteran's
Affairs committees, you don't have any real leadership experience.

* If your total resume is: local weather girl, 4 years on the city
council and 6 years as the mayor of a town with less than 7,000
people, 20 months as the governor of a state with only 650,000 people,
then you're qualified to become the country's second highest ranking
executive.

* If you have been married to the same woman for 19 years while
raising 2 beautiful daughters, all within Protestant churches, you're
not a real Christian.

* If you cheated on your first wife with a rich heiress, and left your
disfigured wife and married the heiress the next month, you're a
Christian.

* If you teach responsible, age appropriate sex education, including
the proper use of birth control, you are eroding the fiber of society.

* If , while governor, you staunchly advocate abstinence only, with no
other option in sex education in your state's school system while your
unwed teen daughter ends up pregnant , you're very responsible.

* If your wife is a Harvard graduate lawyer who gave up a position in
a prestigious law firm to work for the betterment of her inner city
community, then gave that up to raise a family, your family's values
don't represent America 's.

* If you're husband is nicknamed 'First Dude', with at least one DWI
conviction and no college education, who didn't register to vote until
age 25 and once was a member of a group that advocated the secession
of Alaska from the USA , your family is extremely admirable.

OK, much clearer now."

What a great VP nomination acceptance speech Alaskan Govenor Sarah Palin gave last night. She came out with the gloves on swinging---straight for the guts. Forget about a VP debate, just get her and Senator Biden in the ring for a round of celebrity kick boxing and settle this. Let's do this...lol. Not so sure I like her, but the speech was strategically effective. Here is her speech.

If you are a Democrat or otherwise, and have not watched it, it may do some good to check it out. It is disadvantageous to not know the strategy of your opponent or someone who could potentially be your next President/Vice-President.

A guy I was speaking with today, who happened to be black jokingly told me I was a political traitor, because I liked her speech. I had to remind him that I am registered as an Independent, and just because I listened to her speech and have followed some of the convention, it does not make me a "traitor," it makes me INFORMED.

I am interestd in learning who authored that well crafted speech.

I have been watching the GOP Convention as much as I can tolerate, and I miss all of the vigor that the Democratic National Convention carried, perhaps the hurricane/tropical storm is partly to blame for the dull start. The first night, although it was a business night, was like peeking in on a church service. I saw few people of color sprinkle scarely throughout the audience.

Hopefully, Sarah Palin will get the party started tonight by breathing some life into this convention. I am interested in hearing what she has to say. For most of us, she is a walking question mark. Sarah who? She is photo'd above doing practice runs for the big speech. If she isn't loaded already or doesn't become the next VP, one thing can be certain: her speaking engagements fees are going to go through the roof

I can see the book and movie deals already.

I have been hearing about this on our local conservative talk radio show for over a week now, and the rumor is there is supposedly a video tape with Michelle Obama ranting and raving ala Rev. Wright yelling "whitey this. whitey that." People claim they have seen it and according to Politico, Obama responds:

Sen. Barack Obama on Thursday batted down rumors circulating on the Internet and mentioned on some cable news shows of the existence of a video of his wife using a derogatory term for white people, and criticized a reporter for asking him about the rumor, which has not a shred of evidence to support it.

"We have seen this before. There is dirt and lies that are circulated in e-mails and they pump them out long enough until finally you, a mainstream reporter, asks me about it," Obama said to the McClatchy reporter during a press conference aboard his campaign plane. "That gives legs to the story. If somebody has evidence that myself or Michelle or anybody has said something inappropriate, let them do it."

Tonight he clinches the 2008 Presidential Democratic nomination. Mrs. O looks like she has a little bun in the oven tonight. He sounds like he has already made deals with Hillary Clinton. Can't wait to see what unfolds.
