There is nothing more unattractive or hurtful to my eyes than a grown man spending time with his Xbox. Correction... a grown man and his grown friends hogging the TV, huddled around the living room furniture or floor playing Xbox for hours. I do not think I could ever marry or date an XBoxer. When I was growing up, we had Atari, that was fun, and I outgrew it. Then along came Nintendo, Game Boy, and other games. At some point, we are supposed to outgrow these games, right?
The reason I mention Xbox is, that it plays a role in the strain in many relationships. Some men are addicted to playing Xbox games, and do not even realize it. Addicted? When many people think of addiction, they think of gambling, alcohol, drugs, shopping, food, or perhaps even sex addictions, but gamer addiction is growing, especially online gaming. Many people are in denial and do not seem to think they have a problem. They rationalize and say things like, “Well, I am not out cheating,” or “At least you know where I am. I am at home with you,” or worst, “I’m just having harmless fun.”
Have you ever waited online or on the phone for tickets to go on sale for an event, only to find your choice of seats is not so good?
I used to always blame this on Clear Channel or the radio station. Forgive me CC, but it looks like the reason we can't get good seats anymore, is because the playing field is not fair, and a federal judge just ordered RMG Technologies to stop selling its software, which cheats the average customer out of obtaining good seats fairly.
Maybe, now I will have a better chance at getting front row seats to my favorite event. This is a major reason (outside of outrageous ticket prices + fees) I cut back on going to events. Who wants to go to a show and constantly view the stage show through binoculars?
Yesterday The New York Times reported:
“A federal judge ordered RMG Technologies yesterday to stop selling software that lets users flood the Ticketmaster Web site with requests and snap up tickets in bulk, beating the humans who log in manually to buy tickets...“We will not allow others to illegally divert tickets away from fans,” Ticketmaster’s chief executive, Sean Moriarty, said in a statement.
RMG sells software to ticket brokers or their suppliers, who resell the tickets at higher prices.” READ MORE…

Yesterday I watched the hearing in most of entirety, but do not have time to post a lengthy entry expressing my full impression. The hearing lasted at least five + hours, and included a recess during the hearing, because committee members had to break to vote on some other matter. I did get the impression that Master P was really working on being responsible and David Banner was evasive with much of the questioning, and his attitude was: As long as negative things continue to occur in the hood, I will continue to rap on it, no matter how vulgar. Yes, he helps charities, but I liken it to selling me poison, them giving me money to treat my symptoms because of the poisoning.
Georgetown Professor, Syndicated Radio Host, Minister?, and Author Michael Eric Dyson was present also, and delivered his much needed passionate messages. Somehow, I always get the impression that he likes hip-hop, knows much of it is detrimental, but justifies the need for it. Maybe I am wrong.
Someone new to me who piqued my interest was Lisa Fayer, co-founder of IndustryEars.com, who spoke about many of the negative images and problems with corporations and radio. According to her website, Industry Ears is : “A consortium of entertainment and broadcast industry professionals with more than 60 years of experience dedicated to revealing truth and promoting justice in media.” Check out the site at www.industryears.com
Here is a news article report from the Clarion Ledger:
“WASHINGTON — Two rappers, sitting side-by-side in an ornate House hearing room, went in different directions Monday on the need for hip hop artists to expunge their work of sexist and violent language.
One, Master P, apologized to women for past songs that demeaned them, while another was defiant.
Former gangsta rapper Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, told a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing that he is now committed to producing clean lyrics. The angry music of his past, he said, came from seeing relatives and friends shot and killed.
But he said now that he doesn’t want his own children to listen to his music, “so if I can do anything to change this, I’m going to take a stand and do that.”
“I want to apologize to all the women out there,” he said. “I was honestly wrong.”
But rapper and record producer Levell Crump of Jackson, Miss., known as David Banner, was defiant as lawmakers pressed him on his use of offensive language. “I’m like Stephen King: horror music is what I do,” he said in testimony laced with swear words. “Change the situation in my neighborhood and maybe I’ll get better,” he told one member of Congress.” READ MORE...

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe will have access to his $40 Million when he turns 18 on Monday according to Yahoo! News. He stands to make more in subsequent film deals. I have not read one book or seen any of the movies. Wondering if we will ever see this sort of global success in our actors/actresses/authors in book/movie deals. Just a random thought…
