Desperate Haitians Survive On Mud Cookies
MostHighMinistries.com
Angry, hungry poor Haitians stormed the presidential palace yesterday demanding that President Rene Preval resign. UN peacekeepers battled rock throwing rioters, with tear gas and rubber bullets. People have resorted to eating dirt. According to NY Daily news people were shouting, "We are hungry! He must go!" Prices have risen 40% since the middle of last year. I don't understand all of the problems of Haiti, but with all of the resources we have in this world, no one should have to resort to eating mud pies to quell a hunger paining belly.
I wonder how well that sort of activity would go over here in the U.S. with the way gas prices are going, can anyone image a mass of people storming the big house down in Washington, D.C. over gas prices? I mean, what is your limit? People moan over gas prices, but the prices have not reached a critical max that puts people in incontrollable panics. Say if gas prices reached umm...$10/gallon, would that be enough for the masses to want to storm their governor's mansions, or fill up at the gas station and drive off without paying in record numbers? Fuel and food seem to go hand in hand in this country. Because for many of us, if we have not fuel, it's tough for us to have food.
A series of videos created by a black male growing up in the U.S. about his experiences. Thank you for sending me your videos. Here is video #1 and I will show one video per week on this blog. These are really good videos on one black man's perspective. His timing was just right in making me aware of his videos, as I have been looking for some content on a black male's perspective, which does not involve crime, death, gangsta, absentee fatherhood, or male bashing. Those stories will continue to be included, but there must be balance of good with the not so good.
If anyone wants to share a positive story about a black uncle, son, friend, father, brother, grandfather, nephew, mate, spouse, please send it this way. I do have a heartwarming story I read on the net, but want to get permission first from the person before I post it. Ideally, I want to showcase a story once a week, if possible. Thanks :)

Mo Mo, the newly 2007-dancehall queen caused such a ruckus. After she was announced the winner, bottles were thrown on stage, by some of the angry event attendees. People had to run for cover. Mo Mo a Canadian from Quebec is the second non-Jamaican to win the honor and distinction of being dancehall queen for a year. The first non-Jamaican to win was Junko, a Japanese dancer.
Some seem to think she received special consideration, because she is white AND not Jamaican, while in a competition based on a dance art form, which is typically found in the Jamaican dancehall where the dances and dance creators tend to be black. Others are content with the idea that she won. After all, her perseverance paid off-this was maybe her third or fourth attempt at the crowning title.
I say, if you can dance, you can dance—color should not matter. Dancehall moves are not easy and have many sexually provocative undertones. Now if her crowning was rigged or political in nature, I have no proof of that. I have seen older video clips of her dancing and she can hold her own, with an unpolished sort of awkward style-but that is HER style. She was too skinny in my opinion, and it looks as if she has gained at least 5-10 lbs and looks more appealing with the added weight. I don't know what her competition was like.
The Jamaica Observer reports:
“Sections of the large crowd which turned out to see the event at Pier One pelted the stage with liquor bottles after the judges announced 26 year-old Canadian Maude Francato as the winner, forcing contestants, organisers and patrons to run for cover.
"We definitely will have to resort to no bottles in the venue in order to prevent something like this happening in the future," said promoter Brian 'Big Head' Martin after the incident had subsided. "Once it happens once, it will happen again.
Reid, who burst into tears after she was announced as the second place winner, subsequently erupted into an angry tirade, claiming that she should have worn the crown. "She can't even *wine," Reid said of Francato.” READ MORE...
