Here is a project I contemplated participated in well over a year ago, and recently revisited the idea. The project is called The Genographic Project and it allows users to have their ancestry lineage traced with DNA. Your results will be similar-- to what Oprah Winfrey discovered about her ancestry. "I went in search of my roots and had my DNA tested, and I am a Zulu," Ms Winfrey said at a seminar in Johannesburg last week ( in June 2005).

For all of us claiming to have Native American in us, this or that, well the proof is in this DNA test. It's a simple test and easy to perform. Some of us aren't curious and could care less, but some really what to know.

National Geographic notes: "Your results will reveal your deep ancestry along a single line of direct descent (paternal or maternal) and show the migration paths they followed thousands of years ago. Your results will also place you on a particular branch of the human family tree. Some anthropological stories are more detailed than others, depending upon the lineage you belong to. For example, if you are of African descent, your results will show the initial movements of your ancestors on the African continent, but will not reflect most of the migrations that have occurred within the past 10,000 years. Your individual results may confirm your expectations of what you believe your deep ancestry to be, or you may be surprised to learn a new story about your genetic background."
