1stacilattisaw.jpgMonths ago, I combed the web for Stacy updates, but could not find anything except for her company website. Jet magazine offers a few crumbs more than what you can find on the Internet on what former 70s singing teen sensation Stacy Lattisaw-Jackson has been up to. I wish she would do an interview with someone. I think Janet Jackson picked up right where she left off.

Here is an excerpt from the small paragraph they printed and it goes on to mention she is a minister, runs a recording studio with her husband, and is quite content being a mother:

"She left the music scene 19 years ago after making her mark with the R&B hit Let Me Be Your Angel and remakes of Love On A Two Way Street and Don’t Throw It All Away. Today, Stacy Lattisaw-Jackson at age 41 can be found in Maryland where she headlines as wife and mother of two."

"Let Me Be Your Angel " and "Don't Throw It All Away" were my favorite Stacy Lattisaw songs. Here is a YouTube audio with her duet with Johnny Gill Where Do We Go From Here?:

Anyone remember the Born Jamericans? The lead singer known as “Notch” is doing his own thing on the solo tip, and it looks like Edley is also. Billboard recently had him as a featured artist, and the article notes:

“One-half of ragga/hip-hop duo Born Jamericans, Notch (born Norman Howell in Hartford, CT) played a key part ushering in dancehall to American urban radio in the '90s with singles like "Boom Shak-a-Tak" and "Send My Love." Known then as Mr. Notch, he served as the sultry, smooth-singing counterpart to Edley Shine's rugged, toasting rhymes. After the group disbanded in 1998, Notch began tapping into his Latin roots and re-emerged in the 2000s as a hot reggaeton newcomer. Singing in English, Spanish, and Jamaican patois (sometimes all at once, which he coined "Spatoinglish"), he adds meringue, cumbia, and bachata in addition to urban-pop and hip-hop to his interchanging medley of reggaeton and dancehall.” Notch has a new solo album called “Raised ByThe People.” READ MORE…

I was in Hartford, CT this weekend and saw posters of him everywhere, since that is his hometown. While there, I attended the Caribbean parade and saw Elephant Man also, with the bright yellow and orange hair, only as Ellie can do.

I tell you for someone who must be at least 30, he looks like a teenager, and actually looks younger than I remember him from the 90’s. Edley looks good also. After reading the articles on Notch, I think they need to stop with the race, recipe check questions. It gets old. We know he has a diverse background. Seems as if every interview has to tell what percentage of race and ethnicity his parents are. We get it already…it’s really not uniquely unique…focus on the new music he just released.
