Serena Williams loses to Clijsters in a heated controversial U.S. Open tennis semi-final match

Yesterday, I was one of those fans that stayed home alllll day waiting for the rain to stop and stay away long enough for the matches to begin in Flushing Meadows, NY. Finally around 9 pm hour, their match started, and initially I thought both were rushing the plays to try to quickly get through the match before the rain would return. Anyway, Kim Clijsters who bested Serena throughout the match took off running from the gate and never looked back. The match unceremoniously ended a few minutes after 11pm.

Serena is a fighter and with her---it ain't over until the last point is played. She can NEVER be discounted, no matter how bad of a start she gets. That is why she is, to me, the unofficial #1 player in the world. But the behavior last night was tough to watch. In frustration, earlier in the match Serena had slammed her racket on the ground, breaking it, to release some anger and at that moment I had wondered whether or not she had received a code violation.

Apparently, she did, and I was not aware of this until after the linesperson called a foot fault when she was serving and was two points away from losing the match, packing up her rackets, and heading back to Palm Gardens, FLA. For those not familiar with tennis, when a person serves they are not supposed to touch any part of or step over the white line at the base line. If they do, they receive a foot fault and automatically lose a point. The linesperson was seated in a position on the side of the court looking down that line.

I did not even realize what was going on, because I did not notice a foot fault. Then I see Serena walking over to the lines person angrily pointing her racket and ball at her yelling at her. They lady runs for her life...LOL...I hate to say it, but I was thinking: She is running like she is afraid that Serena is really going to jump on her and do bodily harm. I mean, really. How much damage could she have done with security and a world stage upon her, and risk being ejected from the women's tennis association (the meal ticket), endorsements, lawsuits, etc...come on, now. That lady was being EXTRA dramatic with the facial features like she saw the boogies man, and running like Serena was going to chase her down and force her to swallow that ball.

I am a Kim Clijsters fan, and a Serena fan. AND I wanted to see this match go to three sets, and have Serena rally back and take it. Just would have made for better entertainment.

Back to the story--the linesperson runs to the chair umpire to tell her what Serena said which is protocol. Then they call out the tournament referee--the big boss, that makes the final call. I see a huddle with Serena on the outside yelling something like (paraphrasing): I DID NOT SAY I WOULD KILL HER! I DIDN'T SAY THAT!! (Which later, Serena admitted to not hearing her correctly).

She receives another code violation (a lost point) which is her last point left, as she does not have anymore points left and loses the match. I see her walk over to her side chair and throw her racket on her chair and go to congratulate Kim. I thought she had just walked off and voluntarily quit, but after she lost that point there weren't anymore points to play, thus, GAME OVER.

See all of the drama unfold in the first video entitled "Serena cheated..." Why they put that title on, I don't know. It should be called: The Foot Fault Heard Around the World.

I tried to read her lips and it looked liked she was saying something like shoving the ball down her effing throat. When I saw the replay I was highly disappointed. All I could think was that damn Common is responsible for this...lol. Hell, I gotta blame it on someone else in addition to Serena. Now I'm frustrated.

Well, I gotta go with Kim in the Final. She deserves it.

In the post interview...and if they don't attend there a fines, it looks bad PR wise especially after all of the events which culminated. Serena was calm, but appeared annoyed with some of the reporters' questions. I just thought it all had not settled in and she looked somewhat like a deer caught in headlights at times which you can't see in this clip. But she will learn from it and move on from it like anything else. This was her major to win and I really wanted her to win.

Here is a small portion of the post match interview. I had watched a good 5 minutes of the interview.
