If you have all natural hair, i.e. (No relaxers, perms, or Jheri curls) you gotta have some Kinky-Curly!
Yesterday I paid a visit to my auntie and she is a beautician and I noticed her hair looking semi-relaxed and just pulled back. I asked her if she had a relaxer to her shoulder length hair and she told me she had Kinky-Curly sulfate-free, pH balanced hair products in her hair and it is the detangling hair product line I always dreamed of creating. Not just on the spot detangler, but detangler that lasts until the next shampoo. Wow! What a breakthough for people with kinky or or tightly/coiled curly hair! She said, "I'm glad I'm retiring in a couple of years, 'cause this is the product that will put me out of business." :)
Speaking for myself when I was younger and didn't know better I wanted to have bone straight hair and my aunt told me, "You don't want it too straight, then you can't do anything with it." Later my as I developed and grew older that desire diminished over time and over 20 years ago I embraced my hair in its natural state and have probably been relaxer-free for 15-16 years. Don't get me wrong. I like relaxers. They just aren't kind to my hair. I could use them as long as I don't mind picking chunks of hair out of my comb and sink every time I comb my hair. So why go through the heartache. The beauty I have noticed in my natural hair could have never been seen in my relaxed hair. Because all I was doing was buying more product to put the shine and life into it that the relaxers stripped it of. Since I know better and my outlook on life and living has changed over the years I realized I just wanted easily manageable hair.
So back to yesterday. I saw what she had. I liked it and wanted to try it. It took for me to move to Florida to find this product, because over the past few years I was immersed in school and work, so I don't think I would have found it.
Last night, she was my hair and it shrunk to about 3 inches then added the Custard and other hair product. I didn't take a picture, but when I went home my hair was near dry. I allowed it to dry naturally. She told me to put it in 2-4 braids at night. Sleep with a hair bonnet. Undo it in the morning. Dab the hair with water as I style it with my fingers only. Before I dabbed my hair with water I could run my fingers through and even afterwards.
I just woke up from a nightmare. In my dream someone was trying to break into my car...lol...d*mn can't even be safe in my dream. So what a better distraction than to come online and blog? I am not fascinated with hair so it feels kinda weird typing and posting photos about it, but I am working towards moving out of my comfort zone. When I first moved to Massachusetts it was about 1/4 of an inch in length and I never let it grew past one inch for about 10 years, so I could do fine with a minimal length. So here goes. And this post is for folks whom have not discovered Kinky-Curly, LLC products.
I took one photo of the section I took down, but I have since put the plait back in. The hair is relaxer-free and the Kinky-Curl video she showed me is posted and the company video is after the jump. What a great product. My hair is it's natural state is in tightly coiled ringlets when it is wet and very fine. It is similar to Janet Jackson's natural hair to give folks an idea. Think Penny from Good Times. I have a total of 6 photos. I am not in any of the videos. They are just good introductory videos. I might add, I don't know how many people have a stake in the ownership of this company/product but Shelley Davis the founder is a black woman. Much more success to her. She has my support. For those wondering--the product is not just for black folks.

(Photo #1) Before bedtime when my hair was almost dry I put in 4 plaits. After I awaken, here is one of the dry 4 plaits after the 1st day application.

(Photo #2) Similar to Photo #1

(Photo #3) Undone plait. Hair is dry.

(Photo #4) I had just ran my fingers through my hair. Not a snag to be found. Just yesterday after product application it was hanging wet at about 3 inches. Hair is dry and stretched.

(Photo #5) Now I am dabbing it with drops of water and watching to relaxed curls take form. Still running my fingers through. No comb necessary. Loves it!

(Photo #6) A few more dabs of water and shaping. It's very bouncy. On my next visit or after the third application she will shape my hair in a style for me. Thank God! The cure to Florida's humidity has been found.
