CT Parole Hearings Live on TV

I have never been to a parole hearing...lol, thank God. But this weekend I happened to catch the Connecticut Board of Pardons and Parole Hearings on CT public access television. This should be something which is broadcast in every state, because this is one aspect of the prison life I think people really need to see, especially teens. This makes for great television and serves as an effective educational tool. WATCH VIDEO

Several men are interviewed to determine if they will be released and I don't know if women inmate hearings are televised. One inmate up for parole, entered a woman’s apt. claimed he was going to kill her, allegedly pushed her out on the ledge. He terrorized her. Prior to prison this one guy had a few jobs and was in school and doing well before he used extremely poor judgment. “I just wasn’t thinking…I let my emotions get the best of me.” Inmate Vernell Perry had a five-year sentence and was imprisoned for a little over four years. He took college courses in prison and anger management classes.

The parole board members go into session and his parole was granted for March 20, 2009. Mental health treatment for anger management. I did not post his phpto. But the two photos I posted are of men who did not convince the parole board that they had been rehabilitated or learned a lesson from their actions.

Another inmate had a history of escaping from the half way house more than once while on parole… During one period he was gone for 2 years. He said the parole officer wanted him to find a home in another area. This is better than Judge Mathis, all CT public television has to do is add audience participation by way of voting, and it’s a hit show. I was going to make this a Friday Flix feature, but could not wait until Friday to post this.

You can usually predict how the parole board is going to decide, by their tone, the types of questions they ask and the answer given by the inmate, and how quickly the interview ends. They reconvene and tell the inmate immediately whether his parole has been denied, then they tell them why it was denied.

I wonder how much "fan" mail these guys get, 'cause you know there has to be at least one or two delusional chicks out there in the listening audience feeling that channeled love energy coming through the television screen.
