CNN's Black in America HBCU Tour

| | Comments (0)

1cnntourschedule.gifCNN is on a tour of several historically black colleges and universities (HBCU), surveying students on the question of what it means to be black in America. They have three schools left to tour, but it is not too late for students who attend these schools, to enter the iReporter Campus Contest on what their blackness in America means to them. CNN has a new black portal which can be found at www.cnn.com/blackinamerica. Watch Black in America Tour Contest Videos

Here is Gabrielle's story from Howard University. The sound quality is not good.

iReport rules from the CNN website:

One iReporter from each campus will win a digital video camera and have the chance to win a trip for two to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans!

Here's how it works...

1. Send us your iReport (1 to 10 minutes in length) addressing one of the following topics:

• HIV, AIDS and STDs in the black community.
• Role of HBCUs in higher education- why chose an HBCU over any other college or university?
• State of Education and should kids be paid to learn?
• Single Parent Families, 7 out of every 10 black children are born to a single mother
• Black and Single, 45% of all black women have never been married, and the higher their education, the greater that number.
• What does it mean to be "Black in America"?

2. Your entry must include an introduction including your name and your school name.

3. Together with the NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists), one Campus iReporter will be selected from each school to win a digital video camera and use their camera to capture the experiences of their campus' Black in America Tour Stop.

4. Campus iReporters will then submit a second iReport documenting the experiences of their campus' Black in America Tour Stop for a chance to win the Grand Prize- a trip for two to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans!
