Amy Holmes: Republican Strategist

| | Comments (27)

Amy Holmes a young political consultant/analyst seems to be popping nightly on the cable news channels. Everytime I turn around she's on Larry King, O'Reilly, another Fox News or CNN program. She's all over the map. Who is she?

I was checking out her videos on YouTube and found one of a few where she is interviewed and provides some information about herself. She has worked as a speech writer. There were two comments on YouTube regarding her political affiliation, and I just don't know why people who are African American or of color, and enrolled as a Republican are frequently labeled as a "sellout" or "Uncle Tom?" Here is some YouTube dialogue:

"VERY TRUE!!! She is the biggest Aunt Sallie/ Uncle Tom I've ever had seen. She definitely don't relate to black women yet alone black people PERIOD! I HATE BLACK PEOPLE WHO ACT LIKE THAT CAUSE THEY HAVE A LITTLE MONEY!!! SELL OUT B&*%$!!"

socal90210:
"What a stupid-@ss comment. When African Americans are free minded independent thinkers and don't follow the "norm" there Uncle Tom's? People assume that every African American is suppose to think alike and act alike, that is narrow mined thinking and stereotyping. I guess since Colin Powell doesn't think or act like Snoop Dogg, then he's a sellout and Uncle Tom too. That is so 1800's thinking."

True indeed. I do not agree with many of her comments but that does not make her a sellout. We are diverse within our community and I believe that this can help to make us stronger as a political community by challenging the need that many of us feel to be robots and think, dress and behave exactly the same. Without a doubt that way of thought is ignorant and 100's of years behind the times.

Amy
I noticed that you are pushing for Hillary's files and I have a question for you.
Last Fall an investigating committed asked for Bush's files and for an appearance by Josh Bolten and Harriet Meirs. They are now in contempt of court but where are those Bush files since he is not above the law when THAT is required of him and executive priviledge cannot apply in this case. You asked about Hillary's files ...where are Bush's????

There's nothing more powerful than a physically stunning woman, that happens to be incredibly smart as well. Clearly Ms. Holmes has to carry such burden, everyday and everywhere she goes. A sellout! I don't think so, she's simply being herself. Bright, independently thinker, stunning, confident, fair, sexy and republican, who happens to be of African descent. That's all!!!

Wow! Amy Holmes looks like what I would imagine a cult member looks like before deprogramming. Look into her eyes the next time you see her on TV. She simply has nothing real behind them. She really is a squawkbox on some good amphetamines. How does this happen to such a good looking black woman? I can listen to a lot of Republican ideas from a bevy of people, but not from this woman. It is not her ideas that bother me. It is her obvious attitude of superiority, which comes along with them.

Amy is a sellout! not because she can't identify with the black community and doesn't further the progress of our community, but because her polarizing demeanor and political stance toward blacks, educated, professional or otherwise, she appears to take a elitist attitude toward blacks in general. She doesn't realized that the people she are trying so hard to please are looking at her, inwardly, in the same manner. I have watched her body language, her disposition, and her rhetoric.

I agree with the 1st post. Amy Holmes is a boot licking uncle tom. She will tap dance and scrub floors for "whitey" any time.. She do not represent the black community at all..

My biggest problem with Ms. Holmes isn't her views. Everyone has the right to think whatever they want, but when she is brought on to speak on issues concerning African Americans her rhetoiric is insulting. Her understanding of the African American community is as out of touch as the conservative audience she is pandering to.
Ms. Holmes would be better served to stay away from sensitive racial issues and stick to being the republicans token rah-rah girl. She will never be regarded as an African American Spokesperson.

What is going on? Where do these black people come from? Do they know that these people do not like us (black people), and that they (Tara Walls, Amy Holmes, Condeleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, and others like them) are just being used to show that republican whites are not racist. It's a shame that black republicans let power change them.

Most White republicans are racist and rich, so they have the power to manipulate anything. Black Republicans open your eyes. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

Azuri said:

No - Black Republicans - Amy Holmes, Condoleeza Rice, Tara Walls, etc. and others alike are all SAMBOS.

vabmom said:

No, this just proves that Amy Holmes can think for herself and not toe the stereotypical line that all black folk are automatically democrats. The democrat party just tries to use minorities anyway to try to perpetuate victimhood.

There are more and more black conservatives and black republicans everyday because more and more are realizing the victim thing just ain't working. They take care of themselves instead of relying on Uncle Sam to take care of them. What has he done for them lately anyway?

James said:

I personally feel that African Americans who choose to be either Democrats or Republicans are just picking the lesser of two evils anyway. To date, I still don,t see the difference between any of the parties because they both do nothing for the African American. Amy is being perceived by the African American community as a sell out not because she is a republican, but because she never has anything positive to say about Blacks especially when it comes to speaking about Obama. A known characteristic among Blacks is that we say positive things about people even if we don't like them, because that's our nature. The majority of whites (not all) do not see positive in anybody else but themselves and that's a charateristic that Amy continues to display. When she spoke up for Sarah Palin, that was the true indicator for me that all her economic education she has acquired was worthless even if it did come from Princeton.

amy holmes is young and not aware of how she got to where she is. i am glad she is successful but her naivete about history in this nation as it pertains to african americans is pretty appalling. having said that she does understand that black conservatism is a valuable commodity and pays well.

The funny thing is that Republicans were against slavery and the south was pro slavery and Democratic. My how we have changed. To say that Republicans are racists is to say that all Democrats are not racist. And that my dear simply is not true. Hell we are racist with each other so to speak. We are a diverse group of folks and none of us has a patent on what defines blackness. It is small minded to generalize and say that all Republicans are white and racist, that simply is not true. They certainly don't have the diversity that the Democratic party has, but that we can change that too. I'm not going to base my opinions on stereotypes of what the Republican party represents. We need to be represented everywhere.

Amy is killer - smart, beautiful and clear-thinking. Too many people are threatened by others who expect more of themselves than victimhood, self-loathing and underachieving. I forgot the preacher who railed against Barak's mother, but even he would probably like Amy (regardless of the mixed race deal.) Blacks have a lot more to offer the world than even they currently know. You'll see more conservative blacks in the future, and lots of achievement and it won't be long we'll have a black president. Good. Just not Barak Hussein Obama. He seems to gravitate towards America haters, and is, sorry, slick but full of crap.

I am a registered independent, and as far as politics are concerned that's it just politics. You here that the fundamentals of the ecomony are sound, and that means to me producing goods and services, when almost all of our clothing and many other items are imported from other countries including some foodstuffs and not to mention energy. we are a nation of middlemen, producing more WMD's than anything else. This should be alarming to anyone. Have not heard one candidate mention the farmers. a sad commentary indeed.

When are you people going to get it, that real power is within you the public.
All this hoopla about who the next President is going to be Barack Obama, or John Mc Cain, Wake up zombies. When you rely on someone to exhibit authority over your life, then you truly have no life. Why do you think we have seen so many zombie movies made over the last couple of decades, because these writers are speaking to the dead, or trying to wake you up. Do you know who the next leader will be, you, that is what we should be looking at a public representative, and not a Dem,Rep,Ind because the bottom line they are all insiders.
Your asking for change, but your looking in the same wallet, pocket, or purse. Change is only
Important if you really want to change, so stop looking for someone else to do the job your supposed to do.

Thanks for the photos. Yes, there is a difference. She looks like a different person.

Here she is in a post debate analyis, where she said:
"He said the first thing he would sacrifice is energy policy. When he said that, I was shocked. He said, "Well, I'll have to look around at my energy policy and energy independence..."

When in fact, Media Matters calls her a untruth teller on this matter, stating:

"He said the first thing he would sacrifice is energy policy. When he said that, I was shocked. He said, "Well, I'll have to look around at my energy policy and energy independence."

Here is is making the comment, sans highlights and the freshly washed hair look.

Amy is NOT a sellout! She is much worse... she gladly gives it away for free! And yes girl, they love you, but not because you are one of them but because you are a tool they didn't even have to purchase. I am very sure that you don't give a damn what black people think of you... but it might truly break your heart if you found out that your closest conservative friends thought the same of you as they do about the rest of us when truth be told.

Until then, enjoy your delusion.

Once again Amy, your conservative ideology has spewed out another lie on your appearance with Bill Maher. You claimed Obama said he receded the oceans and the seas, “YOU TOLD US TO GOOGLE IT, SO I DID:!! ,,to make him look like the Messiah.

Yet, his speech was talking about if he were elected, the enviornment would be cleaned up by protecting the oceans, not your conservative twist and spin and innuendo and lies! If you acually listen and read his speech, you just might learn something!

Barack Obama= ” then I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal; this was the moment when we ended a war and secured our nation and restored our image as the last, best hope on earth. This was the moment—this was the time—when we came together to remake this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.”

So you see Amy, once again, you conservative right wing swift boaters try to always twist and manipulate the truth into what YOU want the truth to be. Obama was talking about helping protect the enviornment so the polar ice caps stop melting, causing the seas to rise. You turn and twist it into making him look like Jesus Christ! America will not be fooled again by your childish schoolyard politics of ideolgy, manipulation and spin! Get ready for a Democratically elected House, 60 seat filibuster proof Senate and White House with Obama as President this Tuesday!

I have watched her for years. This sick little puppy hates that she is half black. Tonight Obama won the presidential elect! She didn't congrat! him at all just tried to tear him down. She is black like he is. She is a republican but she is still black. Her mother told he when she was a child that she was white. When she looked into a mirrow she suffered a breakdown, which she never got over. From inside sources they say, people at talk shows laughs behind her back. None of the racists she kiss ass with have anything to do with her outside of work. Only her white lovers. I know enough about her to know that she thinks blacks are sub-humans so,it doesn't bother her when blacks make negative comments about her. IT IS OK TO BE A REPUBLICAN AND CONSERVATIVE!! BUT THIS SICK PUPPY LOVES RACISTS WHITES BECAUSE SHE HATES HERSELF AND BLACKS.

pat/blogger said:

midify,

I don't know if any of what you suggest is true, but I do know that some biracial kids who grow up with a white parent, and aren't exposed to blacks or black culture project what they know, and are a product of their environment just like everyone else. I did see her on CNN last night, looking defeated, just as any other Republican last night, and as Roland Martin was expressing the black historical significance of this victory by Obama, she had a look---which to me read, she could not relate. I COULD be wrong, but that's just my body language interpretation.

Here's a thought- Amy is a free thinking individual who happens to disagree with Barak Obama on the fundamentals of his political ideology. Simple. I know it is hard to imagine that some people just think differently. It doesn't always have to be sinister or self- hating and denying our ethnicity and what our society tells us we should think based on where we come from. The whole comment on Obama claiming his election would heal the earth was something many folks rolled their eyes at. So John- you googled it and discovered it was Obama using a metaphor...excellent. Amy knew that. We all knew that. We just felt it was arrogant and bordering on the absurd to put it out there like he was all that. Like his becoming president would be so transforming. I don't care what your political beliefs are- recognize that 1 human being cannot do all that. Not even Barak Obama. Oh- and I saw Amy on CNN on election night as well. And sure she looked bummed- because she couldn't really say what she wanted to say. She knew it wasn't the appropriate time to share her frustrations as a black woman who is a conservative, who has had to fight against racial stereotypes and be labeled in cruel ways by "her community". She probably wanted to talk about the fact that we have this crazy machine in the country that doesn't rejoice in or recognize the accomplishments of other African Americans like Condoleeza (hello- hugely powerful position) or Colin Powell, or the countless other black conservative thinkers of our day... That is what is crazy. She is pissed because she knows that since she doesn't fit her stereotyped role as a black woman- she is out on her own, and she sees the ugliness and total hypocrisy in that. Simple...and sad.
