Tyra Banks explores race and names

| | Comments (1)

Do you have an unusual polysyllabic name? What do people think about you when they hear your name? Does "creative" naming ultimately hurt children in the long run?

I don't watch Tyra's show, but it is surprising to learn that Tyra only recently learned that people are discriminated against based solely on their first name.

Dang you BlogPassion!! I'm supposed to be making quick rounds, but that Tyra clip was so interesting that I had to watch the whole thing. It's a really good show that she's doing. However,...

While I know for a fact that people can judge others prior to ever seeing them because of their first name, Tyra needs to think again about even considering allowing other people's prejudices dictate what you name your child.

Now I'll admit, there are some names that just make me shiver, but if that's what that family likes, that's their business, and who am I or anyone else to pass judgements on that person simply because I don't like their name.

We must be on the same schedule today. I just signed into my blog so that I could run through my blog roll for some visits, and I saw that you had just been to my blog.
