The Baggy Pants Debate on Dr. Phil

| | Comments (10)

Monday Jan. 28th, Dr. Phil will have a discussion with parents, Reverend Al Sharpton, and Grammy nominated hip hop artists Ying Yang Twins, to discuss this debate and address whether the 12 passed local ordinances, banning saggy/baggy pants across the states, unfairly target African Americans?

There are some earlier posts on this subject, but I don't have a problem with baggy pants in general. Some people take it to the extreme. My problem is with pants that sag and expose undergarments, butt cracks, and pubic hair or part of the groin.

As a mother of two young african-american males,
I find it refreshing that they have not taken up
wearing their pants sagging and bagging. It's a
sign in my eyes when young boys and men wear
their clothing in that manner, that they have no respect for themselves or others. I am so tired of seeing it. Also, it is out of style. When I lived in Cali. in the 90's that was the
style, but they weren't wearing them so low and
loose. I left cali in 1995, so that tells you
that here in the south it's still very backwards.

I wear baggy pants myself but not to the extent of the guy in the pic above. I wear my baggy pants about 3 inches below my waist. They are very comfortable for me, I don't like the feeling of tight pants, and don't need them cutting off the circulation to my groin. I have a greater range of motion in baggier pants than in tight-hugging pants. Some women have been complaining that baggy pants is indecent and offensive to them, would they prefer I wear tight pants to show off my bulge? That way it's right there in their face. Why isn't there any concern over super-tight jeans?

After watching this episode of Dr Phil, I feel as if ive gotten stupider. This was a waste of time and energy and anyone who goes out of thier way to stop someones pants from saggng loses any credibility in my eyes.

I am a 75 year old white woman( a retired Hairstylist). As you know women share their ideas while having their hair styled.
Please understan,if young boys or young adults want to wear their pants down to their knees,I don't care.
There is one thing they need to know though.. Eyes and abs come in a poor 2nd and 3rd to round tight buns. I feel like an authority on the subject, because I listened to the subject for 35 years.
Thanks,
Jeanne

There is nothing wrong with a little sag in the jeans I understand that men like a little slack in their pants, but it is ridiculous to walk around with your pants around you thighs and underware showing...And yes, it looks ignorant these young men drawing negative attention to and making spectacles out of themselves...Sometimes the way you carry yourself says a lot about you as a person and can dictate peoples opinion of and the way they treat you.

I think sagging pants looks stupid. I wear baggy pants, but they stay 2 inches bellow my belly button (on my hips). I have looked at this topic from many sides and have came to a conclusion. When you go to a public pool or beach is swimwear not underwear? AND THATS FINE? Women are walking around in BRAS and PANTIES basicly. And men are walking around in BOXERS. So next time you think a bout going to a public pool or beach just DONT because everyone is an OBSCENE INDECENT CRIMINAL. And it discusts you

You have a point Louis, but do you think people should be subjected to viewing other people's butt cracks & cheeks. This may the extreme case, which prompted all of this talk of banning this attire.
