Herschel Walker reveals MULTIPLE Personalities
In a new book coming out in August, it is reported that legendary football Georgia running back and 1982 Heisman Trophy winner, Herschel Walker reveals he has multiple personalities. Multiple personality disorder is a medical condition where a person has two or more identifiable personalities. Walker played for Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants.
I wonder how long he has had this, and how many personalities he has? He needs to go on Oprah or Maury. This will be interesting. Now when he goes on his book tour, people are going to be watching to see if other people "jump out" of him. READ MORE...

This is the type of article that fuels the media perspective of multiple personalities as entertainment. It is the result of long-term CHILDHOOD traumatic abuse. It's a survival coping skill adapted by the mind in childhood. When the amnesia created in childhood begins to break down in adulthood, that is when the multiplicity becomes known. What used to be multiple personality disorder is now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder or DID.
Those with DID will tell you it is not a disorder but a blessing to have survived their childhood. Alters do not typically "jump out". DID is generally unnoticeable to the public except possibly for early healing in therapy. Even then, the change of personalities usually only occurs with a spouse or therapist. Unless there is something in the environment that triggers a fear from childhood, likely you won't see someone "change". You might notice mood swings.
Let's start getting the facts straight people. DID is very treatable. It is not a side show. It is the result of something horrid that happened in the person's childhood and possibly beyond.
It is generally not anything to fear in women but men may have more threatening parts because of the "need" to be strong and macho. Women tend to be extremely submissive and more harmful to themselves rather than present external danger. There are no specific rules for anyone with DID. I'm very happy to see Herschel making an effort to normalize DID somewhat.
Until the true numbers are known, society tends to dismiss it. It is not rare at all. Over 20 million Americans are believed to be victims of incest. The traditional underestimated number for DID is 1 in 100 people. That would make quite a few with DID based on this one statistic if incest began prior to age 6. It's rather substantial. The public just doesn't want to believe pedophiles are intentionally evil.
