Frenchman in Finals of Australian Open
UPDATE 1/27/8: Tsonga lost to #3 Serbian, Novak Djokovic in 4 sets. The score was 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 and his ranking has jumped up to #18 in the world. What a tournament!
22 year old Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (#38 world ranking) of France UPSET the #2 men's tennis player in Melbourne, Australia to earn a spot in the final championship match. If you don't know, this is a BIG FREAKIN DEAL....LOL
I did not pick him to reach the finals, but with his performance throughout the tournament, who could have counted him out? With the #1 player Federer (my pick) out, Tsonga may have a real chance at the trophy and that $1.37 million 1st place prize money. Prize Money Chart Bonne chance, Tsonga!
Tsonga's physical appearance is often compared to a young Muhammad Ali. Yes, he does resemble The Champ, he floats all over the court, and he sure did sting many of his opponents. Even if he does not win this championship, we will still be proud of him. Keep up with him on www.blacktennispros.blogspot.com
