Muhammad Ali had a career in SINGING?

casssiusclay.jpgRecently, at about three in the morning, I was listening to an AM radio program called Danny Stiles’ Music Museum and it features Big Band and classic music from the 60s down to about the 1920s, and the dj mentioned and played a song by former heavy weight boxing champion formerly known as Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali). I can’t help it, but sometimes when I listen to some of that music for the 20s & 30s, I think of how good times were for some, and how awful life was for some of us.

Anyway, in 1963, Muhammad Ali, then known as Cassius Clay put out a single record singing “Stand By Me.” The man could have had a career in singing, and I think he sounds good. Take a listen to this You Tube audio. Who knew “The Greatest” champ had pipes for something else besides talking junk…lol. Perhaps a singing career would not have been as lucrative as boxing? Just thinking… Thanks to the You Tuber who posted the audio file. Click here to start the song.
