Update: Latasha Norman's body found

I was listening to the Tom Joyner Show this morning and Latasha Norman’s father, Danny Bolden was interviewed by telephone, in an effort to keep his daughter’s story alive. Latasha Norman of Greenville, Mississippi has been missing since around November 13, 2007. She was last seen in Jackson, Mississippi. Bolden expressed frustration over the fact that the Natalie Holloways of the country receive constant national coverage on all network and cable television stations, and his daughter has not received similar attention.

Update 12/5/7-- Service held for Latasha Norman READ ARTICLE
I think it was Sybil, who asked how was he supporting himself, and where was he staying while in Jackson trying to find her. Bolden stated both he and his wife were using their sick/vacation time for expenses while staying in a hotel. We all know that time will eventually run out. They currently do not have a fund set up, and I think he alluded that someone else was in the process of setting up a fund. Tom awarded him with $1000.00 and made him the father of the day. I am quite sure they could use some help.
Just think it could be anyone of us. Think. Suddenly, you get that call, and you have to drop everything. However, the mortgages and other notes still have to be paid, and other children at home need attention. A missing family member will turn a family’s world upside down. This is another sad story.
He stated their family was a strong unit, Latasha and his wife were like sisters, she was a third year honor roll accounting major at Jackson State University, and was working at Michael’s Crafts. It seems as if she vanished. No one saw anything. How do people just vanish off the face of the earth? I am thinking about that. The father also stated, he feels the Jackson State police have not reached out to them as much as they could, and he would die penniless if had to in the search for his daughter.
He added he appreciates any and all the coverage he can get. When I Googled her name, it seems as if it showed up more on blogs than news websites. Here is my contribution. Hopefully, they will locate her.
****Holiday season is here, and what a way to give. Even if you send $1, $5, $10 or more, it will go a long way for the family. If 1000 people sent $5, this could go far. If you don't want to donate electronically, get a money order or check, and send it to the family by way of the Accounting Society. Remember, no donation is ever too small.****

Thank you so much for this.
I am a book club president in Mississippi, and I agree that this touches home with all of us.
One of the authors that we are hosting next week, Bestsellig author Gregory B. Williams (author of BROTHERWOOD and SOLOMON'S QUEST) also heard the story and will be donating 100% of the proceeds from his book sales here to the family.
It is people like this that let us know that all is not lost in this country.
Thanks Cyrus, when we get fund info it will be posted. You may get info before us. If you do, please feel free to post it. Thanks!

This story is so very upsetting. I saw her beautiful smile only yesterday. I still feel short of breath when I think of what may have happened. At the same time, I want to stay positive. I want to stay positive for her and her suffering parents.
Please, please; let's not bring up race vs. airtime until we all know she is safe and unharmed.
Remember, Natalie Holloway is most certainly dead. I would like to believe that Latasha is only missing.
In my prayers,
Steven
"Please, please; let's not bring up race vs. airtime until we all know she is safe and unharmed." Steven, we don't have to mention race. Just look at the actions of the media, and general public interest in certain missing person cases.
It is about a missing person. I wrote about what her father said during an interview, and did not dictate what I heard to start a race debate. What motivated me, was at the end when he stated he'd take all of the publicity he could get, and the fact that they are average working class people, who seem to need more support than they are getting to date.
Here is a news quote from FoxNews.com:
"As far as the interest by the national media in the story, I think race probably had an impact," said Jackson Police Chief Malcolm McMillin, who is white. "It's a small college in the South. It's the daughter of simple people who maybe are not important outside of their circle, and maybe we don't attach the same importance to them that we do for other people."
I first heard of this tragic story last week. I sincerely hope with all my heart Latasha comes home safe and sound. Her father, Danny was on the Tom Joyner Show again this morning and there was a lady (whose name I cannot recall) and her husband who are both alumni of Jackson state who offered a two bedroom apartment (located 15-20 minutes from campus) to the family for $1 per month until she is found!!! He was SO grateful and I was excited as well. My prayers are with Latasha, her family, and everyone who is involved with the search for her. Peace and blessings to all of you!!!
I'm sorry to report that her body was just discovered. Pray for her family.
